Leatherwood honey is one of Australia's finest honeys.
It has a unique and fantastic flavour. Spicy, piquant, tangy - its unlike any other you've tasted.
And it has a wonderful aromatic bouquet.Found only in the pristine rainforest wilderness of Tasmania, the leatherwoods (Eucryphia Lucida) are ancient, and can grow very old.
Fossils suggests they were already growing at the time of Gondwanaland, some 35,000 years ago.
And they can grow up to 350 years old, indeed they don't even start flowering until they are at least 75.
The leatherwood blossoms for about 6 weeks from January to mid March and its delicate little flowers produce a strong and sweet scent.
You can smell that scent in this honey, and that, along with its distinctive flavour, makes leatherwood honey much sought after by connoisseurs the world over.
The Tasmanian Honey Company extracts and packages its honey at a maximum of 45 degrees to ensure that it retains all of its natural flavours and goodness.

With an exceptionally long shelf-life, the Tasmanian Honey Company's leatherwood honey remains good to eat virtually for ever.
Packaged in a sturdy steel tin, featuring a beautiful graphic design, this honey tastes as good as it looks.
As a uniquely Australian product, It also makes an ideal gift.
